Dorian Broadus has been in the shoe shining business for many years. He comes from a long line of "boot blacks", as shoe shine technicians were known in the early 1900's.
Shoe shining started as a way to keep leather shoes looking sharp. It started in the 1800's and gained popularity during World War I as the military needed the their shoes polished.
